About Jetland

Jetland is a privately owned UK acquisition business. We focus on established owner-managed companies and prefer to deal directly with shareholders wherever possible. Our approach is deliberately straightforward: understand the business, establish whether there is a fit and make a decision quickly.

Direct decisions

  • We deal direct

Wherever possible we speak to shareholders themselves. It is quicker, it is more confidential, and both sides find out sooner whether there is anything worth pursuing.

  • We decide ourselves

Acquisition decisions are made within Jetland rather than referred through layers of committees or a lengthy investment approval process. If we say we intend to proceed, that is the decision.

  • We answer quickly

A written proposal normally follows within 7–10 days of first contact. If we do not intend to proceed, we say so plainly rather than leaving an owner waiting.

  • We keep it confidential

Discussions are confidential from the first call. Nothing is disclosed to employees, customers or suppliers as a result of speaking to us.

David Landsberg

Managing Partner

David has spent over 30 years involved in acquiring, selling and structuring privately owned UK businesses. He leads Jetland's acquisition work personally — speaking to owners himself, visiting the businesses, and taking the decision on whether Jetland proceeds and on what terms.

Owners are welcome to call David on his mobile rather than through the office number.

What Jetland is, and is not

Jetland is a buyer. We are not a business broker, we do not market companies for sale on behalf of owners, and we do not charge owners a fee for speaking to us.

A formal sale process has its place and is handled well by a number of capable advisers. Our proposition is simply different: we are the party on the other side of the table, and we can tell you what we would pay without a process first taking place.

If you already have an adviser or broker appointed, tell us at the outset. We will not ask you to breach an existing mandate.

How Jetland is structured

Jetland is the entity you deal with directly — it is where enquiries are handled and where the decision to proceed is made.

Jetland funds acquisitions on a transaction-by-transaction basis, using a combination of partner capital and established acquisition finance. This allows each acquisition to be structured around the business rather than the constraints of a fixed fund.

Why your accountant would recommend us

Business owners are right to involve their accountant or solicitor before going further, and Jetland expects — and welcomes — that.

No mandate, no commission

Jetland is a direct principal buyer, not an intermediary being paid to find you a buyer or to maximise a headline price. There is no commission at stake in whether you decide to sell, and nothing for your accountant to be wary of in terms of conflicted advice.

Your advisers stay involved

Once a conversation moves beyond an initial discussion, we expect your accountant, solicitor and other advisers to be involved in the normal way — reviewing terms, running due diligence and protecting your position, exactly as they would in any sale process.

No pressure, no exclusivity

An initial call carries no obligation and no request for exclusivity. If our proposal does not work for you, you remain free to pursue any other route, including a formal sale process.

Funded to match the transaction

Acquisitions are funded on a deal-by-deal basis, matched to what the specific transaction requires — see How Jetland is structured above.
